A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Chip actually played music for a living. Joining Chip on this collection of original compositions are the award-winning production talents of John Jennings, arguably one of the best guitar players in the country, and co-producer of many albums by Mary Chapin Carpenter, as well as Jon Carroll, a two-time Grammy winner writer, arranger, and overall amazing musician. Not to mention a former member of the “Starland Vocal Band.” Jon also wrote “Get Closer” for Linda Ronstadt and performs nationally as a superb singer/songwriter. Mary Chapin Carpenter also sings back-up on a couple of cuts.
That’s Why I Hate The Beach Boys
Written way back in the eighties. The title says it all.
Wrote this song long before the band of the same name. Although I don’t claim to have invented the phrase. Most people call it STUPID LITTLE PUNKS anyway.
A Dangerous Man
Talk about your standard 80’s power ballad, with obvious Zevon infulences.
The Price You Pay
This song was actually cut by Mary Chapin Carpenter as an early demo before her first album. If she would record it on a CD I could afford a beach house. sigh…
The Night Train
I knew a guy from the old neighborhood whose older brother went to Viet Nam and was never the same. Only no one ever talked about it.
Missles in Europe
Most college kids have no idea what the cold war was all about, but Europeans still remember. I should have slowed this down and reapped the whole thing.
The Ones That Miss
I love this song, especially the second verse. The band really performed well, considering we cut this at about two a.m.
The Master Communicator
A really good song that I overproduced. Too much caffeine and too much talent surrounding me. I couldn’t stop.
